Uyare | Review | Rajiv Nedungadi

Uyare is not a story of a feminist as it may look like. Its the story of a female who had a dream to become a pilot. An incident in her life changes things for her.

After Kayamkulam Kochunni, this is definately a consecutive super hit for Bobby and Sanjay. Their writing skills have aways been brilliant.

Manu Ashokan has done a great job as director

The three songs by Gopi Sunder are good. The background score in the beginning and in some other parts of the movie are really brilliant.

Performances of Parvathy, Siddique and Asif are great. Tovino and Anarkali have also done a good job. Samyuktha Menon, Pratap K Pothen and Prem Prakash have also given good performances.

The movie has story, drama, sentiments, a bit of romance and thrill. The movie also talks about a serious social issue.

I would seriously recommend people to watch this movie in theaters.

Verdict: Block Buster
Rating: 4.5/5

Disclaimer: The below mentioned rating and review is strictly personal. Please feel free to go and watch the movie in the theaters because your opinion and perception may be different than me.

After a long wait Ramaleela hit the theaters on 28th September 2017 in and out of Kerala. I was a part of a house full show even though it was just a 90 seat theater in a mall.

For a change, this is not like the other Dileep movies with funny dialogues, scenes or sequences, this movie is a combination of politics in the first part and a thriller in the second. Ramanunni, played by Dileep is a candidate in the elections however certain incidents take place in his life. The story is about how he gets out of the situation.

The performance by Dileep has been brilliant, he is back with a bang. Kalabhavan Shajon who played Thomas Chacko also did a good job. There were some comedies here and there by Shajon. Prayaga Martin played a role where she supports Dileep in getting out of the situation where he was in.

The script and direction were good. Some of the visuals are really brilliant, especially the ones captured through the heli cam.

Overall this is a good watchable movie.

Positives

+ Good performance by Dileep and Kalabhavan Shajon
+ Some great visuals
+ Script
+ Direction

Negatives
– Felt a bit lengthy or lags in the first half.

The story is about a family where one of the members end up having cancer and how they cope up with the situation. This is a serious topic covered with sensible comedy. The whole movie has comedy stuff until the climax. This is not a story about trying to arrange for money to treat the patient or about the family members not supporting the patient, but its different.

This is Shanti Krishna’s comeback movie after almost two decades. Lal plays Shanti Krishna’s husband, whereas Nivin Pauly, Shrinda and Ahaana Krishna plays the role of their children. The other cast include Aishwarya Lekshmi, Siju Wilson, Krishna Shankar, Sharafudheen , Dileesh Pothan and Saiju Kurup.

Nivin Pauly has been in London and returns on India on his mothers request. He keeps on showing off by telling everyone that he was in London and just returned. Sounds same like Mohanlal saying “Njan B COM First Classa” in Nadodikattu 🙂

Lal plays the role of a husband who is scared of things, where as Shanti Krishna plays a bold wife.

Overall its a very good family entertainer that everyone should watch at least once.
Positives

+ Good performances by the cast
+ Good story and well executed
+ Comedies

Negatives

  • Nothing in particular

In the movie, Mammootty does the role of a trainer who trains the teachers. He has been called by different bad names for reasons for which he is not responsible for.

There are some dialogs and topics in the movie that makes this a “not for family” movie. If your small children hear the dialogs, they might pick certain words and ask you the meaning of them, so better not to go with children under 15 or 16 years of age. The movie is based on a simple story and has got nothing new to offer.

The movie has some good comedies especially in scenes where Dilesh Pothen and Hareesh Perumanna are present. Some scenes of Innocent are also good but sometimes he is a bit too much.

Asha Shareth does the female lead but Deepthi Sathi seems to play a bigger part in the movie.

There are a few characters who just come and go, these artists include Sijoy Varghese, Vivek Gopan, Alencier Ley Lopez, Maniyanpilla Raju, Anjali Aneesh, Thezni Khan, Sunil Sukhada, Tesni Khan.

There are four songs in this movie, however a couple of them has just been pushed into the movie for no reason.

Overall this is a one time watch movie.

Positives
+ Good performance by Mammootty and Asha Shareth
+ Some good comedies

Negatives
– Story
– A couple of songs added just to fit them in the movie
– Not for family movie due to some dialogues

Movie Rating: 2/5

The home video rights of this movie are with Empire, therefore this movie might release on a Blu Ray, however its just going to be another title that wont sell much.

Ever since I saw the first part of Bahubali on a Blu Ray, I decided to watch the second part in the theaters. I did go for the Hindi version because the tickets for the Malayalam version is close to Rs.500/- per person.

This is one of the most visually brilliant movies I have seen in the recent past. I feel that the visuals of this part is even better than the first part.

The movie is a very well directed, I loved a few scenes but then dont want to mention about them here.

The performance of all the characters were very good including Prabhas, Rana, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj and Anushka. Tamanna had very little to do though.

Two things I was not happy about were the songs were not too good when dubbed in Hindi. I also sometimes felt that the length of the movie was a bit much, could have been avoided by cutting down on a song and a few scenes that were not wanted.

Overall this is a movie that everyone should watch in the theaters. Most probably this movie would cross 1500 or even 2000 Crore collection worldwide

Positives
+ Brilliant Visuals
+ Brilliant Direction
+ Great Cinematography
+ Entertainer

Negatives
– Songs when dubbed in Hindi were below average
– Movie length

The Great Father

Malayalam Film industry has been just doing better and better. After the success of C/O Saira Banu and Take Off, here is another movie that could break a few records, The Great Father.

The movie is about Mammootty and Anikha who are father and daughter and are very close friends. An incident happens in their life and that is where the father turns a super hero.

Due to the incident that happens, the first half is mostly sentiments. However there is more action and thrill in the second half of the movie.

Arya plays a cop in the movie and is an investigation officer. Other cast include Sneha as Mammoottys wife, Malavika Mohanan as another investigation officer, Miya George as Dr.Susan, Kalabhavan Shajon as Journalist, Sunil Sukhada as School Principal and a few other artists.

I was under the impression that this movie is just for Mammootty fans unless I watched the movie. This movie has sentiments, thrill, action and drama for everyone to watch. The cinematography of the movie is also good.

Overall this is a watchable movie, go with your family and watch it.

Positives
+ Good performance by Mammootty and Anikha
+ Good Direction
+ Good Story, Action and Thrill
+ Good Cinematography

Negatives
– Nothing in particular

Every review I have read on the internet said that the movie is worth watching. I did not see even one review that gave less than 3 out of 5 for this movie. Therefore, I decided to watch this movie and did not get disappointed.

The story is about a group of Malayali nurses captured when the terrorists of ISIS took over the city of Tikrit in Iraq – the hometown of former dictator Saddam Hussein. Take Off shows how the nurses suffered and how with the help of Indian Embassy officials, the nurses were rescued and brought back to India.

The first half of the movie is about the issues faced by Sameera (Parvathy) and the reasons why she ends up taking a job in Iraq. The second half is more about the rescue operation, how Indian Embassy staff in Iraq, Fahad Fazil helps the nurses to get to India.

Parvathy as Sameera did a brilliant job. Fahad, Kunchacko and other also did a good job. Asif had a small role which he did well too.

The highlight of the movie was the sound of the blasts and the gun shots. The quality of the sound is really brilliant that it shook the people in the theater.

While I am writing this review, Bookmyshow has 6523 votes and the score stands at 90%. This is the highest I have seen for any Malayalam film in the last 4 years, maybe even more.

This is one movie that no one should miss in the theaters. The experience of watching this movie is always going to be better in the theaters than on a DVD or BD (if any).

Positives
+ Brilliant performance by Parvathy
+ Good performance by Kunchacko, Asif and Fahad
+ Good Direction
+ A good story
+ Good BGM, especially during the climax

Negatives
– I felt that the amount of sentiments was a bit too much in the movie.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is the story of a married couple who have a boring and routine life. Ulahannan (Mohanlal) keeps himself busy with his work with no time for his family, whereas Annyamma (Meena) after taking care of her regular chores passes her time watching the TV serials. The attitude of the couple changes are an incident.

The Mohanlal and Meena combination has ones again pulled crowds to the theaters. Some of Mohanlal’s expressions are really impressive. Anoop Menon has also done a good job. Asha Shareth had a very small role but she did a good job too. The performances of all others were also up to the mark

Some of the locations and camera works were brilliant. It would be a treat to watch them again on a Blu Ray.

Even though there were scenes of drinking, the people involved did not show any over reactions after drinking, like most of the other movies do.

There were a few songs in the movie which were good and so were the BGM. The visuals shown in the songs were really great.

The message this movie gives is that your children will learn looking at what you do. Therefore people should go to watch this movie with their families.

Overall, a good family movie

Positives
+ Mohanlal and Meena combination
+ Above average fun and family movie
+ Some great locations
+ A nice family story
+ Good Songs

Negatives

– Felt some small lags here and there

Master Rudraksh Sudheesh (Ayyappa Das / Appu) has always had a dream to travel by a plane. His father who is abroad invites him along with his brother and mother to visit abroad. However Appu is unable to go as he falls sick. He gets another chance to travel by plane to meet his father but that too gets cancelled as his father passes away and his dream remains unfulfilled.

Kunchacko Boban (Ajay Kumar / Kochavva) keeps helping everyone around. He realizes about Appu’s dream and decides to help him. The rest of the plot is about Kunchacko helping out Appu to fulfill his dream.

The performance of each and every character in the movie has been really good. The film has a simple story but makes complete sense.

The songs are above average and the BGM is really good. The film has been shot in some really beautiful locations which makes the whole movie worth watching more than one time.

Overall, this is a must watch

Positives
+ Good performance by everyone
+ Some great locations
+ Very good story line
+ Good BGM and Music

Negatives

The story begins with Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang, three friends are seen rushing home, where as the three guys Angad Bedi, Raashul Tandon and Tushar Pandey are rushing to the hospital as Angad Bedi is hurt.It is later revealed that Angad Bedi tried to molest Taapsee Pannu, however inspite or her resisting he was not stopping, therefore Taapsee hit him with a bottle on his head.

Rajveer (Angad Bedi) is the nephew of of a politician and therefore his friends threaten the three girls. The problem starts when the Taapsee files in a complaint with the police about the threatening. Rajveer files in a complaint against the girls saying that the girls were trying to extort money from him and when he refused they hit him.

When the case reaches the court, Amitabh Bachchan takes up their case and fights for them.

The story actually talks about the mentality of people. Amitabh Bachchan sarcastically says that any thing is fine when a guy does it but there should be rules for girls.

The first part revolves around the incident and I felt it was a big lagging. The second part of the movie is full of court drama which has been made interesting.

Amitabh Bachchan initially has been a lawyer who does not even want to cross examine the witnesses produced by the other side and you might get a feeling that he is at the opponents side, later he gets aggressive.

The performances of the people seem to be good. There are a couple of songs in the movie. The BGM also seems to be good.

Overall I would say that everyone should watch this movie.
